Mycolactor ®

Advanced pro-biotic and mycotoxin elimination technology

Formulated to act as a probiotic, and bind mycotoxins produced by mold organisms,
so they are not absorbed by the animal.

A dynamic approach to Nutri-Agri Research and Product Development

The coexistence of beneficial and potentially pathogenic bacteria is an important factor in the general health of animals. If the balance is upset, the number of beneficial bacteria decline while the number of potentially pathogenic bacteria increase, compromising the animal's health and growth. Feeding a live product like MYCOLACTOR with beneficial bacteria helps maintain balance, optimizing animal health and performance.

How does MYCOLACTOR work?

  • Beneficial bacteria produce a variety of organic acids and other compounds that inhibit the growth of E.coli and other intestinal pathogens.
  • Organic acids also can serve as energy sources to the animal or other beneficial bacteria.
  • Lactic acid bacteria produce antimicrobials that inhibit intestinal pathogens.
  • Beneficial bacteria deconjugate bile salts, which inhibit enteric pathogens.
  • Researchers report animals fed lactic acid-producing bacteria have an increase of activity in their immune system, improving the animal's resistance to bacterial infections.
  • Beneficial bacteria produce enzymes which breakdown feedstuffs into smaller, more easily absorbed nutrients.
  • Lactic acid bacteria reduce the level of amines in the gut which are toxic.
  • Lactic acid bacteria out-compete pathogens for nutrients in the gut. (figure 1)

Mode of Action, Mycolactor

  • Metabolizes substrates into sugars, vitamins, amino acids and proteins making them unavailable to pathogens.
  • Overpowers and outcompetes pathogenic bacteria.
  • Produces lactic acid decreasing intestinal pH, inhibiting pathogenic bacteria growth.
  • Metabolizes bacteriocines which work against pathogenic bacteria.
  • Increases enzymatic activity and absorption area in the intestinal tract.
  • Produces vitamins and enzymes that degrade specific types of mycotoxins.
  • Physically precludes the possibility for other harmful bacteria to occupy the same space.
  • Promotes healthy equilibrium of the intestinal flora and resulting benefits to the animal.
  • Produces lactic acid which elicits an immune reponse and the production of antibodies and increased phagocytic activity.
  • Acts as an antigen, strengthening the immune system. (figure # 2)

Each gram of MYCOLACTOR is guaranteed at a minimum of 150 million colony forming units, (CFU's) of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lacobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarrum and Lactobacillus brevis Placed in media consisting of dried brewers yeast which includes brewers' grain (barely and wheat), oligosaccharides and cell wall extract.

Producers still commonly feed low levels of antibiotics to their animals for growth promotion. However, the feed industry is looking for alternatives to this practice because many pathogenic microorganisms are becoming resistant antibiotics. MYCOLACTOR offers a viable, effective and natural alternative to the widespread use of antibiotics.

Micro-organismsCharacteristics/Benefits
Lactobacillus acidophilus Isolated from milk, cheese, other dairy products and human intestines.
Widely used as a probiotic.
Lactobacillus plantarum Isolated from dairy products, fermenting plants, silage, pickled vegetables.
Lactobacillus brevis Improves the cellular immunity, humoral immunity and the phagocytosis of macrophage.
Lactobacilus casei Improves intestinal health, reduces constipation, flatulence and diarrhea. Strengthens immune system. Promotes energy. Reverses effects of infections, antibiotics, stress, and poor diet. Helps treat IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and Colitis. Improves protein, vitamin and mineral absorption.
Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Bioaglutinates pathogens and biotransforms toxins and mycotoxins.
Enterococcus faecium Isolated from animal and human intestines. Widely used as a Probiotic. Very sturdy.
B. bifidum Bifidobacterium helps to reduce colonisation of opportunistic bacteria. B.bifidum effectively kills or controls E.coli, S.aureus (cause of toxic shock syndrome) and shigella.

Why use MYCOLACTOR ?

  • To provide a source of live, naturally occurring microorganisms as an aid in the amelioration of mycotoxicoses.
  • To maintain healthy microbial balance in animals.
  • To supplement desirable organisms to newborn animals during incidences of scours at weaning and other diet changes.
  • During and after antibiotic therapy.
  • At calving (freshening).
  • During periods of stress (cold, heat).
  • Incoming feedlot and stocker cattle.
  • To help maintain appetite.
  • As part of a health maintenance program.
